On Sunday 23 April, cookbook writer Yvette van Boven and our collection manager Roxali Bijmoer will give a lecture together. About the inspiration that Yvette took from one of the oldest preserved herbaria in the world, the En tibi (1558). The lecture will take place twice, at 11 am and 1 pm, in Dutch.

For the 200th anniversary of Naturalis, we portrayed Yvette with the ancient herbarium from our collection, in her own kitchen. That same day she started drying edible plants. The result was her latest successful book Van Boven in the wild.
She talks to Roxali about drying and preserving plants, how this is done now; and how that happened in 1558. They talk about the Naturalis collection and why all those preserved plants are so important for research, about edible plants and what you can do with them in the kitchen.
