Naturalis and a number of partners are working on a project called ARISE. Together, we are building a scientific infrastructure that knows and recognizes all Dutch species. On March 26, the people that are working on Arise and those who may end up working with Arise will come together for a scientific convention. Part of this is open to the museum public.
All speciesby any means
To make Arise happen, we'll need hundreds of thousands of samples from plants, animals and fungi. That is more work than you might think - you can learn more about it in our LiveScience hall, only today.
Fungiand fun
ARISE wants to be able to recogniza alle species in the Netherlands, and that means the Westerdijk Institute for fungal biodiversity have their work cut out for them. There are many thousands of species of fungi, and they are much less studied than animals or plants. Today, the people at Westerdijk will give demonstrations of their work, and talk about the importance of fungi.
