Naturalis and a number of partners are working on a project called ARISE. Together, we are building a scientific infrastructure that knows and recognizes all Dutch species. On March 30, the people that are working on Arise and those who may end up working with Arise will come together for a scientific convention. Part of this is open to the museum public.
All speciesby any means
To make Arise happen, we'll need hundreds of thousands of samples from plants, animals and fungi. Our Team Sampling have their work cut out for them! In an interactive workshop in our LiveScience museum hall, they'll share their work with you.

Eén van de mensen die soorten heeft verzameld voor Arise is de Utrechtse ecoloog Luc Hoogenstein. Hij stelde zich tot doel om in zijn tuintje in Lunetten duizend verschillende soorten te vinden. Hij trof er veel meer dan duizend aan, waaronder een aantal die nieuw waren voor Nederland. Tijdens de lezing vertelt hij over zijn project, hoe je achter de soortnamen komt, en hoe je zelf meer soorten in je tuin kan krijgen. Zijn boek 'Mijn 1000 soorten tuin' is deze dag te koop in de museumwinkel van Naturalis.
