With a background in Biology and Business I’m very interested in forming the bridge between science and the private sector. I mostly work with private sector companies and financial institutions to help them and their clients understand how they can assess their impacts and dependencies on biodiversity, how they can act on it and why this is relevant for everyone.

Topicinterests
I am passionate about bridging science and business, helping companies use scientific knowledge to make informed decisions that drive sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and positive environmental impact in the private sector.
During my master’s in Biodiversity and Sustainability, I focused on the diversity and adaptability of African ungulates, as well as pollinator monitoring. As I progressed in my studies, I became increasingly interested in how scientific research translates into real-world applications, particularly in the private sector, where I believe there is significant potential for positive impact and opportunity. To explore this further, I learned the basics of business and how it intersects with environmental science. This broadened my perspective on the crucial role of the private sector in biodiversity conservation and sustainability efforts. I am passionate about acting as a bridge between science and business, ensuring that companies can leverage the wealth of scientific knowledge available to make informed, responsible decisions that benefit the environment and biodiversity.

Currenttopics
I'm currently working on several natural capital related projects:
- Biodiversa+ project on accelerating the use of public biodiversity data in the private sector to assess and reduce their impacts (and dependencies) on biodiversity
- We collaborate with KPMG to help private-sector companies assess their impacts and dependencies on biodiversity. Together, we share a vision of engaging as many businesses as possible—beyond those required to comply with the CSRD.
- One of our key joint initiatives is the development of the THRIVE toolset, designed to support companies (and other interested stakeholders) in evaluating their biodiversity-related impacts and dependencies. While THRIVE was created in response to CSRD requirements, it also provides valuable insights into potential risks and opportunities, helping businesses make informed decisions.
- Next to that I work on various Natural Capital projects, working with organisations and financial institutions like BNP Paribas, as well as other companies or parties seeking guidance on CSRD compliance and biodiversity impact measurements.
