“Seeds in Amazonian body ornaments: encapsulated indigenous histories, aesthetic and environmental knowledge”
My current research is mainly focused on understanding the connections between aesthetic choices and ethnobotanical knowledge in the production of body ornaments with Amazonian seeds by indigenous peoples. Through a temporal comparative perspective, my research explores continuities and transformations and how these can reflect wider aspects of encounters, trade, environmental changes and colonial influences.
